Internship Seminar Reminders!
1. Dress for Success! Make sure that you are wearing business casual clothing. This means:
Men: khaki or dress pants, polo or dress shirt, dress shoes (no tennis shoes).
Women: khaki or dress pants, skirt or dress (not a beach dress), blouse and dress shoes or
dress sandals.
2. Be Professional! It is okay to have fun but remember that the places that you are interning at are a business. Ask appropriate questions, do not discuss personal business and pay attention when someone is talking to you. Spacing out or using your cell phone when you are working is never acceptable behavior.
3. Use Time Management! Don't become stressed out because you have too much to do. Make sure that you prioritize your tasks and complete the most important ones first. In addition, if something happens and you cannot make it to your internship you need to make 2 phone calls: one to the place you are interning and the other to Mr. Sutton or Ms. Miekina.
4. Don't Forget your Requirements! In order to complete your internship you are going to need to keep daily journals, take lots of pictures or pick up information to use during your trade show and ask your supervisor to fill out your time sheet daily. Failure to complete these requirements will result in a loss of points for your grade. In addition you need to complete 3 interviews with contacts at your internship and write an occupation analysis paper.
